Saddle Up for St. Jude 2017

Saturday April 22, 2017 from 12-5 pm at Briar Rose Farm, Orwigsburg, PA

This will be the 5th year Stemmler Stein Equine, LLC will be hosting a Saddle Up for St. Jude event to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital! Over the last 6 years we have raised over $15,000 for the kids at St. Jude. I am very excited to get this event up and running again for 2017!

Please visit our fundraising page at to register and start raising money for the hospital! About a month or so from the event I will have envelopes as well to help with fundraising if you wish to go door to door or in your workplace. We are asking that everyone raise at least $25 in order to participate in the event. Of course, the more the better! I have set an event goal of $2500. Our record however in 2010 was over $5000. Can we beat it?

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST RSVP BY APRIL 15! Depending on weather, parking may be limited. We may end up assigning ride times if need be depending on the volume of trailers coming in. Please let me know if you are bringing a trailer and which riders are coming with you so we can plan for parking. We want as many people as possible to be able to participate!

Activities at this year’s event will include the Trail Ride itself, which will be about a 2 hour loop (at a walk…but you can set your own pace), a 50/50 Cash Poker Ride on the Trail (additional donation), an Easter Egg Hunt (on trail…and maybe something closer to the farm for the kids), a Raffle (donations of Raffle Items welcome!) and Pony Rides (yes! All those munchkins not quite ready for the trail ride can still ride!).

I am also in need of volunteers! It gets a little chaotic on event day, so I will need the help! Please let me know if you are willing to help with any of the following:
-Parking! Going to be complicated depending on how wet my fields are. Need a few adults for this.
– Registration day of- need 2 adults
– Pony Ride Walkers! – need 3 teenagers or adults with horse sense
– Traffic Control- where we have road crossings
– Checkpoint Guard- Scattered throughout the trail to make sure everyone is OK…and to help with the poker ride and other games!
– Runners (to check on other volunteers, refresh them with drinks, etc. …kids would be great here!)
– Event Awareness- I could use some helpers before the event to spread flyers, notify radio stations, etc.
– We also need donations of items for the raffle and donations of food items/ baked goods to sell to benefit St. Jude.

More jobs will pop up I’m sure, so if you can help let me know. Please email me at!

Looking forward to the event! Hope to see you there!

New Farm is Open!

After a year of hard work, our farm is finally open for business!  We have a newly renovated 10 stall barn and a 120’x70′ indoor arena.  There are trails to hack out around the farm in addition to access to quiet township roads to trail ride.  Lots of turnout options ensure horses get out as much as possible.

There are several lesson horses available for both English and Western.  Dressage and a balanced seat is my specialty!  Lessons are either a full hour or a half hour.  Group discounts are available for 2 or more riders.

We have limited openings for Full and Partial Training Board.  Full training in an intensive 5-6 training lessons or lessons a week.  Partial is 12 lessons or training sessions a month.  The partial package is our most popular.  Most people opt to do 2 lessons a week, and then have me ride their horse once a week so that both horse and rider stay well tuned!  Please inquire about prices and availability.

We are looking forward to an exciting 2016!  We hope you will be part of it.

Almost a year since I wrote? How time flies!

I feel like I’m coming out of zombie land and waking up again to focus on getting some fun events out there for all of you wonderful clients and followers!  Whew…what a year its been!  Here’s the latest scoop….

So in September 2014 my husband and I bought a gorgeous little piece of property at auction just outside Orwigsburg.  We bought the house pretty much sight-unseen and boy what a project it turned out to be.  Now that renovations are done on our beautiful little house, we are starting to turn our attention to getting the property ready for…you guessed it…horses!  There is tons of potential here and I am so excited to get started.  We are still in the very early stages, but I will be sure to keep you posted as things progress.

I am still teaching at both Hillside Equestrian Center in New Tripoli and at Bear Creek Valley Stables in Auburn.  Lesson schedules have been filling up with this gorgeous weather we’ve been having, so if you are interested, make sure you give me a call!

If you would like to be on my mailing list for upcoming events and updates on the farm’s progress, please email me at with the subject “Add me!”, even if you were on my mailing list before.  When I went in to my email account last week, all of my contacts had mysteriously vanished.  Google can offer no explanation or remedy other than the possibility that my account has been hacked.  I have done what I can to remedy that scenario, but if you have been or start getting weird emails from me, ITS NOT ME!  Please let me know right away.

Hope all is well with everyone!  Looking forward to a great rest of the summer!
